  • Assessment through a child & youth psychiatry consultation
  • Age 13 and under: our pediatric ADHD clinic with Dr. Deborah Lipszyc, including ongoing medication follow-up when appropriate
  • A referral from a family doctor, pediatrician or nurse practitioner is needed

22 and under

  • Comprehensive ADHD and mental health assessment with Bridget Doan, NP
  • Medication management and follow-up when appropriate
  • Complete our Get Started form and we'll email you a booking link, often with a shorter wait
About pediatric NP care
Fee-based · no referral

23 and older

  • Adult ADHD assessment with Julie Bisson, Janet Gu or Brock Cooper, NP
  • Ongoing medication management and monitoring
  • Adult ADHD isn't assessed through OHIP psychiatry here

How it works

  2. 2Gather your documentsReport cards (especially from elementary school), IEPs and any past assessments. Email them ahead to intake@wholeheartmentalhealth.com.
  3. 3Your assessmentA thorough review of attention, learning, mood and daily functioning.
  4. 4A plan and follow-upRecommendations, and medication care when appropriate.

Cost

  • OHIP routes: covered, with a referral
  • Fee-based assessment, 22 and under: $500
  • Fee-based assessment, 23 and older: $1,000
  • Not covered by OHIP. Some benefit plans may cover nurse practitioner services, so check with your benefit provider.

Already diagnosed?

  • Medication consultation: $500 (previous assessment report required)
  • Ongoing medication follow-up: $100 for up to 30 minutes

Do I need a referral?

Only for OHIP-covered assessments (22 and under). Fee-based assessments with our nurse practitioners don't need one.

Can adults be assessed through OHIP?

Not at Whole Heart. Adult ADHD assessment is a fee-based service with our nurse practitioners.

What should I bring?

Report cards (especially from elementary school), IEPs and any previous psychological, psychoeducational or ADHD assessments.

Will medication be prescribed?

Only when it's appropriate. Our nurse practitioners can provide ongoing medication management. After a psychiatry consultation, recommendations go to your referring provider, who continues prescribing.

Is a fee-based assessment covered by insurance?

It isn't covered by OHIP. Some benefit plans may cover nurse practitioner services, so check with your benefit provider.
