Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

In this type of therapy, people are taught two seemingly opposite strategies: acceptance (i.e., that their experiences and behaviours are valid), and change (i.e., that they have to make positive changes to manage emotions and move forward). Divided into four stages of treatment, typically over the course of one year, DBT focuses on mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.


Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This is a short-term, structured form of psychotherapy (talk therapy) that helps people develop skills and strategies for tackling everyday problems. CBT clients learn to identify, question, and change the thoughts and behaviours that cause them difficulty.


Emotion-Focused Therapy

This is a short-term form of therapy that focuses on adult relationships and attachment/bonding. Therapist and clients examine patterns in relationships, and determine how to identify, understand, use, and manage emotions in healthy ways to relieve distress, communicate effectively, connect with others, and overcome challenges. It will also help resolve painful feelings and change problematic emotional states.

Family Counselling

This is a form of group psychotherapy, where the group are people who care about each other and call themselves a family. The goal is to help everyone understand and support each other. This type of therapy can help if a family is dealing with overwhelming feelings caused by loss, trauma, illness, or changes of any kind.

Parent Coaching

This coaching aims to helps parents tackle everyday (and unforeseen) challenges by offering alternative perspectives of family situations, uncovering strategies to shift behaviours and family dynamics, and helping parents achieve their parenting goals.

Sanchin Martial Arts Program

Sanchin Martial Arts is an artistic form of self-defense designed specifically so that size and strength, age or athletic ability are not factors that will hold you back in your training. Taught on an individual basis, students train in a safe, non-competitive environment, allowing for a positive and uplifting study experience. There’s an increased focus on mind, body and spirit. No Samurai is without a dojo!

What types of pyschotherapy do you offer?

No referral is needed for most therapy options and some types of therapy may be covered by your insurance plans.

Do you offer psychiatric consultations?

Yes! We offer consultations from our team of psychiatrists and/or our nurse practionner. To see our psychiatrists, a referral must be faxed by a physician or NP. This service is consultation only and is covered by OHIP.

What kind of wellness strategies do you guys use?

Mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques and wellness strategies are blended throughout all types of therapy.

Some of these strategies involve the following:

    • Sleep Management and Counselling
    • Community Engagement (liason with schools and/or community outreach)

Do you offer psychoeducational assessments for children?

Yes! We offer assessments for children and teens to assess for learning difficulties and/or giftedness. We can help determine the root of the problem and will help provide you with recommendations on how to help your child succeed in their education.
