OHIP-covered psychiatry requires a referral from a family physician, pediatrician, or nurse practitioner. We are currently receiving a high volume of referrals, and referrals are reviewed before booking.

Consultations are generally 1 to 1.5 hours. The psychiatrist reviews the history and current concerns, assesses diagnosis where appropriate, and makes treatment recommendations.

Possible clinicians: Dr. Garcia Thibodeau (online only), Dr. Nkungu (online only), Dr. Wiesenthal (online or in person at 1739 Bathurst Street, Toronto), or a combined Nurse Practitioner + Dr. Wiesenthal pathway when appropriate.

This is consultation-only care. A written report is sent to the referring family physician, pediatrician, or nurse practitioner. That clinician continues prescriptions, medication changes, monitoring, and ongoing care. Routine psychiatric follow-up is not provided through this general pathway.

Patients under 18: both the patient and a parent/legal guardian must attend. They may be seen together and separately during the consultation.

Age 23 and Older — OHIP Adult Psychiatry

Referral required from a physician or nurse practitioner.

Dr. Blacklock provides OHIP-covered psychiatric consultation for a limited range of concerns, primarily anxiety, depression, and OCD.

Consultations are generally 1 to 1.5 hours.

This is consultation-only care. A report and treatment recommendations are sent to the referring physician or nurse practitioner. The referring clinician continues prescriptions, medication changes, monitoring, and ongoing care.

Adult ADHD assessment is not offered through this OHIP pathway.

Preparing for Any ADHD Assessment

This applies to patients of all ages. Please have any available report cards, particularly elementary-school report cards, IEPs, psychoeducational or psychological assessments, previous ADHD assessments, and other relevant school, developmental, medical, or clinical reports available for the assessment, or email them in advance to intake@wholeheartmentalhealth.com.

What Happens Next?

For OHIP psychiatry, please do not book an appointment independently. Once the referral has been received and reviewed, Whole Heart will send the correct clinician, appointment type, and booking link.

Dr. Blacklock provides OHIP-covered psychiatric consultation for a limited range of concerns, primarily anxiety, depression, and OCD.

Consultations are generally 1 to 1.5 hours.

Adult ADHD assessment is not offered through this OHIP pathway.
