Amanda Smith is a seasoned Social Worker with nearly twenty years of experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She has worked across a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings, and for the past thirteen years has provided individual, family, and group counselling to children, youth, and families experiencing mental illness and complex life stressors.

Amanda has extensive experience supporting clients facing anxiety, depression, personality disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tourette Syndrome, trauma, challenging family dynamics, interpersonal stress, and negative self-image. She has a strong clinical interest in the treatment of OCD and uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based behavioural approach, to help clients challenge obsessive thoughts and reduce compulsive behaviours.

Her background includes comprehensive mental health assessments, treatment planning, and collaboration with community partners to ensure continuity of care. Amanda is known for her grounded, warm, and non-judgmental presence, fostering a therapeutic space where clients feel safe to explore their challenges, emotions, and goals.

As a former competitive athlete, Amanda also understands the unique pressures and emotional demands of high-level sport. She supports athletes in balancing academic and sport commitments, managing competition anxiety, coping with injuries, and using visualization techniques to enhance performance and confidence.

Amanda tailors therapy to each individual and family’s needs, drawing from a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Attachment-Focused Therapy (AFT)

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

She is comfortable working with all ages and is deeply committed to helping clients build insight, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

Amanda received her Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the British Columbia College of Social Workers, and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
