For the past nine years, Katie has worked at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) within the Psychiatry Department and the Division of Adolescent Medicine. She specializes in assessing and treating anxiety disorders, depression, and Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Katie develops individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that target specific symptoms and works closely with adolescents and their families as they build coping skills, increase insight, and challenge unhelpful patterns.
Katie also has extensive experience supporting LGBTQ2S+ youth and their families. Through her seven years working in the SickKids Transgender Youth Clinic, she has developed deep expertise in gender dysphoria, gender-affirming care, and identity development. She is passionate about providing affirming, anti-oppressive, and inclusive care to gender-diverse children and adolescents.
Katie earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto in 2012, where she received the SickKids Student Humanitarian Award for her empathy, compassion, and commitment to patient care. She is registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers. Katie is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of Toronto and continues to contribute to medical education and academic literature.
