Susan (Sue) Knutsen-Somigli is a Registered Social Worker with over thirty years of experience providing counselling and psychotherapy to children, youth, adults, couples, and families. She is registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and earned her Master of Social Work from New York University in 1993.

Sue’s career spans work in Toronto’s school system, community health, and various mental health agencies across both New York and Ontario. She brings a rich depth of clinical knowledge, compassion, and practical experience to her therapeutic work, supporting clients through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

Sue practices from a client-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive lens. Her approach is eclectic and integrative, drawing from several evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). She supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, women’s wellness, school-related concerns, and major life transitions.

Sue believes that each person carries innate wisdom and resilience, and her role is to help clients access that inner strength. She works collaboratively, creating a safe, grounded, and supportive environment where clients can explore patterns, gain clarity, strengthen coping skills, and move toward meaningful personal growth.
