Sanchin Mindful Martial Arts – IN PERSON PROGRAM
Is your child struggling to control their emotions or behaviours?
A child may have difficulty self-regulating their emotional responses for a variety of reasons. These may include stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD or the impact of trauma.
Sanchin Martial Arts is based on the Karate form or kata that embodies the struggle or battle between the mind, body and spirit. By using mindfulness, CBT and dedicated martial arts practice, children gain harmony between mind, body and spirit and learn to balance their emotions and behaviours.
Participants learn:
Self-Regulation, Emotional Balance and Martial Arts techniques through:
- Motivational Interviewing Attachment techniques
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques
- Emotional and Behavioural literacy and control
- Focus
They will develop the ability to weigh the cost/benefit of their behaviour, cultivate less self-judgement, stronger caregiver attachment, and realize improved self-esteem – all leading to greater agency over their actions.
A one-of-a-kind Karate-based program, Whole Heart’s Sanchin Martial Arts program is led by a Registered Psychotherapist with more than 7 years’ experience running group sessions for children, 6 years’ experience teaching children Muay Thai and 20 years’ experience training in Goju Ryu Karate.
