The rapid access clinic at Whole Heart provides quick access to an appointment with a nurse practitioner who is trained in child and adolescent mental health.

A referral is not required to access this service, however, it is highly recommended that you have a family doctor or pediatrician available to receive the recommendations.

How it works:

Step 1: You will complete the free screen (located at the bottom of this page) to determine if you or your child is eligible

The following conditions must be met:  Age: 8-18 years old, Conditions being assessed: Depression, Anxiety (Worries, Social Anxiety, OCD, Panic, School Avoidance), Sleep issues or ADHD

We cannot provide an assessment of the following: Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorder, Psychosis or primary Substance use Disorder

Cost is $375, which includes a comprehensive assessment by one of our Nurse Practitioners.  Following the assessment, a report will be written, and sent back to the a doctor to prescribe/follow meds.

Pending availability, the nurse practitioner can prescribe medication and follow (if applicable) for an additional charge per session.

This clinic is supervised by our psychiatrist. Should there be a need to see the psychiatrist, a referral will be made by our Nurse Practitioner to see the psychiatrist urgently. The assessment with the psychiatrist will be covered under OHIP provided you have valid OHIP.

By completing this form, we can better determine if the RAC is appropriate. The fee for the RAC is $375, as it is not covered under OHIP. Completion of this form is free. Please check with your insurance plan or health spending account to see if this is covered. Once the screening questionnaire has been reviewed, and the RAC is deemed appropriate, you will be given an appointment within 3-4 weeks with a Nurse Practitioner. Our nurse practitioners are experienced mental health clinicians, who also work under the guidance of our psychiatrist. Following the assessment, recommendations are sent to the physician of choice. If a psychiatric assessment is deemed appropriate, you will be referred by our Nurse Practitioner to the first available spot. If therapy is recommended, you will be referred to see one our clinicians. The Nurse Practitioner can prescribe, and monitor medications for a fee per visit.
